Hi!

We are a warm friendly busy family looking for help on some weekend afternoons. We would like a ‘buddy’ to support our delightful and well behaved 12 yr old who has a mild disability. You would help him with his hobbies eg Lego, make him a snack if he needs one, and accompany him out and about doing the things he enjoys but isn’t independent enough yet to do alone, like shopping in town or going to the park. Also helping him keep his things tidy and organised and occasionally supervising homework.

Looking for support from October onwards.

Would suit a student well, from experience. Being a buddy does not require previous special needs experience (though experience or interest in working with a young person with SEND would be a lovely bonus). The main thing we would like is someone kind, responsible, friendly and fun - who can be like an older sibling for a few hours. Our son is sweet, enthusiastic, and loves keeping active and going out and about :)

We are flexible on which days and hours, but to give an example, a few hours a few weekend afternoons a month would work for us. If you’re around during some school holidays we can also offer more hours during these times. If you are also available once or twice a week after school we may be interested in some hours then also.

We are in central/north Oxford (university area).

Excellent checkable references are essential. A confident safe driver with a clean driving license would be a bonus (but driving is not routinely needed).
