My Summary
About Me
I have been a registered childminder for 14 years, I have a level 3 qualification in childcare which I completed June 2015. My 1st Ofsted inspection was in April 2009 and the result was GOOD, my 2nd inspection was July 2015 and the result was OUTSTANDING, my recent inspection was on 28th July which I received Good. I work with 2 assistant's, one is a registered cildminder with 10 years experience, the other has a degree in early childhood studies with 11 years nursery experience, they also have all the relevant training in 1st aid, safeguarding, food hygiene, all which is necessary for the job. We are able to look after 9 children together which is good for children's social skills. I have a son who is 16 who attends Enfield Grammar school. We go out to different places regularly park's, feed the ducks, Hilly fields, Enfield playing fields & Forty Hall, which is good to be out in the fresh air. I have worked all through the pandemic so I am very conscientious with hygiene and cleaning. I have a playroom at the end of the garden with lots of toys, books, music, dressing up clothes, arts & crafts to entertain the children. We do lots of messy play, arts and crafts, singing, dancing and lots more. I also have a large garden with loads of toys to play with, also artificial grass so it doesn't get muddy. I follow the EYFS, we do regular observations, which help the children achieve their milestones, we also encourage independence in self care and doing things for themselves like peel their own fruit, butter their own toast, washing their hands & putting on their own shoes and coats. I also like to have good communication with the parents and take a lead from them in their children's care and development. I also have a little dog which is a westie, she is very placid and very good with the children, which is also good for them to be around animals. I've recently got a labrador puppy who is adorable and the children love her, also she loves being around them, but is restricted as she is a pup and needs rest and training.
My Experience
I have been working for 15 years now as a child minder. I have a 16 year old son and he gets on very well with all the children I look after. The age range of the children I mind currently is 1 to 3 years old. I've also had the experience of looking after my nieces and nephews on a regular basis when they were younger.
My Qualifications
My qualifications are the home based child care course (cache) which is a requirement by ofsted. Level 3 in childcare, 1st aid training course. Food hygiene, safe guarding, covid training. I have also been continuing to keep up to date with relevant training run by the council, I also have my own online training system which covers every course needed for childcare which myself and my assistants use.

Wendy clearly has a passion for looking after children and takes pride in her immaculate and warm setting which is a purpose built playroom/ building at the bottom of her garden. She has looked after our son on 2 days of the week for the past 4 years and our daughter 2 days for the past 2 years. The setting has a home from home feel and our children have enjoyed their time there. They love the range of toys, the outdoor play area, always with some kind of activity set up for the children. They enjoy the trips out to local places and parks too.
Our children seem to socialise well in the mixed age group and we can see they have learnt empathy with the babies and looked up to the older children. They have established good friendships at the setting; my son is still best of friends with a boy who was there with him, for the same 4 years.
Our children eat well at Wendy’s and throughout the years she has updated her menu and asked parents for any meal / food ideas that they’d like their children to have. I was quite particular with healthy foods and no sugar with my first child and Wendy was happy to adhere to my requests.
Wendy provides a daily update with photos on what the children get up to each day on babydays website and it’s a great way to see our children’s progress and growth since their first settling.
Our children have hit a lot of their milestones with Wendy and she is a natural at knowing when they are ready for their next developmental stage.
The family set up seems to work well and the children love it when Wendy’s husband is around to look after them.
Wendy has flexibility if some early morning drop offs are needed and having extra hands to do the school pick-ups has been a huge benefit with our eldest.
Wendy’s support throughout the Covid pandemic was invaluable, when my husband and I were working throughout, Wendy stayed open and our children were able to have the stability of their normal routine. They were the only children there during some of the lockdowns and they didn’t mind going and had walks out with Wendy / her husband to the fields with their dog.
As a whole, our experience with Wendy has been a positive one and to have trust in someone who is going to be looking after your children for 2 days a week is a great thing.
My 3 year old son has been in Wendy's care for 18 months and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a child minder. I am only removing him because we are leaving the area.
As Wendy mentions in her commentary the children have access to a range of toys both in the fantastic purpose playroom she has in her garden and outside. The children also in her care also benefit from a range of activities, arts and crafts, reading, trips to the park and play groups. There are also the trips to locations further afield, including Paradise Wildlife Park, Willows Farm.
We have found it easy to work with Wendy to ensure consistent structure and discipline for our son. Consequently any problems have been swiftly dealt with. Wendy has also been extremely flexible on the few occasions when working commitments or travel problems have meant that our normal hours need to be changed slightly.
As my son has been with Wendy 5 days a week I must acknowledge the significant contribution she has made to ensuring that I have a happy and confident toddler. We are very sorry to be leaving.
