About Me
My name is Pauline Horton and I have been a childminder for 20 years. Over this time I have looked after over sixty children.
Location:
My home is in prime location for several Shirley and Hall Green-based schools, all within walking distance, including Chilcote, Hall Green Infants and Haslucks Green.
As well as the various trips out in the local area, I also offer a range of enriching home-based activities such as circle time, painting, cooking, drawing, craft making and play dough, role play, construction, stories, music and movement, sand and water play.
My Experience
I have looked after range from six months old to fourteen years, with extensive previous experience with SEND children.
I offer a range of different facilities such as nursery and school pick ups, after school care, full and part time care and holidays (upon discussion).

Learning environment
Children are happy and settled at this wonderfully calm and enriching setting. The
childminder has planned her environment extremely well to support children’s
independence and continued learning. For example, children can access different
areas, depending on how they are feeling. The childminder provides a quiet room where
children can go to read and play in a calm and relaxing environment. This supports
children to regulate their emotions and recognise their own needs.
The childminder has an extensive knowledge of child development and understands how
children learn. She places emphasis on repetition for young children to solidify their
knowledge to a very high standard. For example, young children join in with singing and
rhymes. They demonstrate their wide vocabulary as they sing and talk with each other.
This supports children to be confident talkers from a young age.
Communication and community involvement
The childminder has exceptionally high standards of communication and this supports her
excellent relationships with parents. She knows families well and provides personalised
support and guidance for each person. Parents feel valued and well-supported by the
childminder and this helps them work in partnership to support children.
The childminder works extremely well with other early years settings that children attend.
She shares newsletters and children’s progress regularly to ensure consistency in learning
is achieved. Children benefit from shared learning experiences, and this helps them to
make quick and continued progress in all areas of their development.
