My Experience
September 2017-Present: Primary school teacher
January 2012 – September 2017: Full-time nanny
This role involved looking after two young girls (5yrs and 22months). It is a full-time role (7am – 7pm) and involves me getting both children dressed and taking the 5yr old to school and the younger child to daily activities such as tumble tots. I then prepare lunch and dinner and ensure that all washing and ironing is completed.
August 2011-September 2011: Mother`s help
This was a part-time role which involved looking after a 2 yr old girl as her mother was due to give birth. We took trips to the library, park and local play centre. I continue to look after the 2yr old and her baby brother, who is now six months old, on an ad-hoc basis.
April 2011 – October 2011: Nanny
This was a part-time role (30hrs) which involved looking after a 7yr old, 9yr old, 12yr old and 14yr old (when she was home from boarding school).
March 2010-June 2010: Nanny/Personal Assistant
This role involved looking after four children aged 17, 14, 11, and 9. Duties included taking to children to school and collecting them. Preparing meals and ensuring that all homework was completed.
September 2008 – December 2008: Nanny
This role was a nanny share for two families looking after three young children; two young boys aged 2years and 18months and a four year old girl. Duties included giving the children breakfast and bathing them, taking them to activities in the local area, preparing lunch and ensuring that they have an afternoon nap. I was also in charge of the children`s washing and ironing and tidying their rooms.
May 2008 – August 2008: Nanny
During this period I was working as a temp whilst studying for my exams. I completed a two week placement for a young family whose mother was on jury service. I was looking after two girls (8months and 3years). This role involved giving the children breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as preparing bottles for the younger child. I also had nursery duties and we attended a playgroup twice a week.
I also worked for a family that had three children two boys and a girl (aged 10, 4 and 2 years). Duties included school runs for the older two children, nursery duties, supervising bath times. I prepared all meals as well as packed lunches. I was also responsible for the children’s washing, ironing and bedrooms.
January 2008 – May 2008: Nanny
This job involved me collecting a 7 year old girl from school and driving her back to the family home. She enjoys listening to music and we often find ourselves singing along to songs on the way home. Once there I prepare an afternoon snack and evening meal. In the school holidays I arrange fun packed days but also aim to involve different forms of exercise so we will often take her bike and walk the dogs.
March 2007-January 2008: Playworker
This role involved me collecting children (aged 4-11) from school. For the duration of the shift I had to brainstorm different games and activities for the children to participate in. This could range from arts and crafts to a wide choice of sport such as tennis or football. There were occasions when the children had minor accidents and first aid would be administered which would then have to be logged in the first aid book so that the parents were aware of any incidents involving their children. Longer hours were required in the holidays.
December 2003- December 2007: Nanny/Babysitter
This role was looking after my younger cousin. I started by babysitting him from when he was approximately 1 month old so that my aunt and uncle could have time to relax. I had to bottle feed him every four hours. I organised numerous trips around London and spent a vast amount of time singing and reading with him. He is a very active young boy so we took part in sporting activities such as football. As he got older we discovered that he had a nut allergy which meant that I had to be trained to use an EpiPen as there was always a risk no matter how vigilant we were with checking the ingredients of products.
September 2003-June 2005: Part - time Nanny (G 8mnths, G 4yrs, B 6yrs, B 9yrs)
This was a part-time role after school. I had to help the older child with homework and listen to the 6yr old read. I would prepare the evening meal and also supervise bath time. The older child enjoyed putting on puppet shows for the younger children which was an activity that kept them all entertained despite the age difference. I prepared bottles for the 8month old and also carried out feeding and nappy duties to help the mother.

Sam is lovely and was a huge help to me when my husband was travelling for work and my full time job was demanding.
Sam collected my children from school, took them to the park, did craft projects with them, encouraged them to practice their musical instruments, cooked them dinner, washed up and helped them get ready for bed.
Sam is reliable, punctual, flexible, sensitive to the needs of others and seems to have boundless energy.
My children felt happy and safe in Sam's care.
