People who know me, would describe me as calm, sunny, nurturing and gentle.
I am a nature lover and I love to be out in the woods connecting with the natural world.
In my spare time you would usually find me practicing yoga, reading or knitting/crocheting.
I have a strong passion for working with children and have a particular interest in children's mental health and wellbeing. I plan to go to University soon to gain a Masters degree in Play Therapy.
I am a Mum of 2 children who are home educated.
The method i use to educate my own children is learning through play and learning through life experiences. Being fully present with the children so we have shared experiences is so important. I take this approach with any children i take care of too. I tend to make the activities I plan open ended to encourage creativity and critical thinking. Mud kitchens, tuff tray activities, loose parts/tinkering and dressing up are some of my favourites!
I take a conscious, gentle approach to my parenting and the children I'm caring for and believe in meeting every child exactly where they are.
I believe in allowing children the freedom to choose what they need for themselves within boundaries and allowing children to feel their emotions, reminding them that all feelings belong and supporting them through that without trying to change their experience.
I always work on developing positive attachments and mutual respect between myself, the children and parents.
My Experience
I worked 2 years in a nursery setting whilst gaining my NVQ working with 3month-5years but was based in baby room and younger toddlers and occasionally covered in preschool.
I then became a sole charge nanny for 3 fantastic girls (all under 4 at the time) the oldest i looked after in the nursery setting and stayed with this family for 1.5 years. I worked very closely alongside mum and dad and other family members. Unfortunately i had to leave this role as mum decided to stay at home after having her youngest girl. I am still in regular contact with the family now and see them regularly.
I was then a sole charge nanny to 2 wonderful boys aged 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 years at the time and had been in this job role for almost 4 years. I had taken care of the youngest one since he was brought home from hospital in a small bundle :-) i have formed a strong bond with both the boys and also all family members. I still see the boys regularly and babysit for them from time to time.
I currently work for a family with 2 boys aged 3 and 1. My role is to support parents with after nursery care and bedtime. I have been in this role since Jan 2024
My Qualifications
NVQ level 3 in CCLD (childcare, learning and development) with TCC dedication to learning award
Rainbow kids yoga teacher
Diploma in child psychology
Short course in managing behaviour
Safeguarding level 1
Paediatric first aid certificate
Enhanced DBS checked
Full UK driving licence
My Availability
I am available all day (if in a nanny share with my own children)
otherwise im available (just me) evenings and ad hoc weekends.
