My Summary
About Me
Hello, my name is Vicki I am a qualified British Maternity Nurse. I work as a Maternity Nurse and Night Nanny. I set up Baby Days Baby Nights to provide daily and remote consultations for families who don't require the full support of a Maternity Nurse, but still have questions and would like support in their baby's first year.
I have worked in the Childcare industry since 1996. Working as a Nanny, Childcare Assessor, Nursery Manager and most recently as a Maternity Nurse. I qualified in Early Years in 1999, and have since undertaken many more courses over the years, including gaining my Maternity Practitioner Level 3 in 2002, Degree in Early Years in 2015, along with Breastfeeding and Sleep Training short courses over the past couple of years.
I have worked with many different families, nationwide and abroad, gaining a wealth of experience over the years. I love my job, and couldn’t think of a better career. I enjoy working with families and feel it’s a very rewarding job being part of helping to settle your new little babies into the family home.
Whilst I am with you, I would listen to your family's needs and gently tailor a routine around these. Every family is different, some will want a flexible routine, some a more structured one, some have other siblings that the baby will need to work around, or parents' working schedules that need to be considered. I will listen to your needs and work with you so there is a routine that will fit in with your family. I understand having someone in your home can seem daunting, I am able to fit in and help when needed, or make myself busy elsewhere if you want privacy, have friends over or would like to have an evening with your partner.
Other duties include
Help and advise with equipment before the baby arrives,
Feeding advice, breast, formula or mixed feeding support
Sterilising equipment
Sleeping advice, routines and healthy sleep habits.
Bathing, dressing, changing babies nappies
Keeping the Nursery tidy, washing the baby's laundry
Undertaking night feeding so parents can be refreshed for the day
I am a member of the ABBP (Association of Birth and Baby Professionals) and the Maternity Nurse Association.
I am self-employed and therefore take care of my own tax, national insurance and pension costs. I have public liability insurance along with a DBS (criminal records) check, and First Aid Certificate that gets renewed every three years.
I also have my own car insured for work use and hold a full clean UK driving licence.
I am currently based in Lincolnshire but willing to travel.
My Experience
Throughout the last 25 years I have worked with many different families, I started my career in day nurseries gaining a huge amount of experience in child care, working with families and child development. From there I worked as a private Nanny for different families, working closely within the family home. Looking after their children’s full developmental needs, organising age appropriate activities covering their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development along with nutritional needs. From nannying I became a Childcare Assessor, assessing Nursery Nursers within the nursery setting, ensuring they had the training and skills to become qualified Nursery Nurses. I have also worked as a Nursery Manager in a Day Nursery, caring for children, families and Nursery Nurses. Working closely with parents, staff and official agencies to ensure the care and safety of the children was adhered to at all times.
In all my experience, working with families in their own homes has been my passion, what I have enjoyed the most, and always gone back to. I have spent most of my career Nannying, home and abroad, working with many different family dynamics, and working with parents to help care for their babies. For the last 10 years, I have specialised in Newborn care, working closely with new parents to care for their Newborns. I have worked with many parents, giving them the confidence to care for their precious babies, showing them the basics of nappy changing, through to bathing and advice on feeding and sleeping. I have worked full 24-hour care, days or nights, depending on the family's needs, always working with families to help make such a special time is as relaxed and calm as possible. I have experience with babies with reflux, cows milk intolerances, tongue ties, breastfeeding, formula feeding, mixed feeding, 1st babies through to 2nd and 3rd, 4th and 5th babies! I am UK based but willing to travel, and have travelled with families, whether on their summer holidays, to help parents have a well earned break, or if they live abroad and would like an English Maternity Nurse to help in the first few weeks with their baby.
I understand that each and every baby is different just like you and I, we all have different personalities likes and dislikes. Therefore not one routine or way of caring for a baby will work for everyone. I am there to work with you to help you find what works for your family and your baby in the early months, hopefully helping to give you and your baby the best start, and be able to enjoy this special time together.
Please do contact me if you would like any further information.
Many thanks
Vicki
