About Me
Our motto at Little Owls is ‘ confident, curious and ready to learn.’ We not only stand by this motto but we deliver it everyday. We offer a warm, caring, fun, safe, educational, environment to your child.
Every child is unique with their own characteristics , learning style and pace. Recognising this in all our children means we can meet their individual needs and create an inclusive, caring environment where they can thrive.
At Little Owls we work in line with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) All activities are planned in accordance with the EYFS. But also inline with the children’s interests. We often take the children’s lead with what they find interesting or they are engaged in. Every child is unique. They enjoy different learning styles, they develop at their own individual pace and all learn and respond to the world around them differently. Alongside the EYFS we support children within the characteristics of effective learning and areas of development. We ensure children can play and explore, learn actively and create and think critically. We encourage children to have a ‘can do’ attitude, develop and grow their own ideas and strategies, support them in bouncing back from adversity and to be proud of and enjoy their unique and individual achievements.
We are based in a beautiful cabin which has been purposely built for Little Owls. During the warmer days the cabin is open for free play into our garden. The garden holds a well equipped and imaginative mud and curiosity kitchen. We have climbing apparatus, car tracks, easels and tuff trays. We offer a range of arts and crafts; children can follow a guided activity or create their own masterpiece which they will be able to bring home to show you!
We are fortunate to be located close to so many wonderful opportunities for days out. We visit places such as Petworth Park, Winkworth Arboretum, Wisley, Knowle Park, Ramster Gardens, Witley Common, Thursley Boardwalk, Alice Holt, and Hogmoor weekly. In the summer months we visit the seaside and the Lavender fields.
We use an online system which as a parent you will have access to, where you can view updates on your child’s day. We also share photos with you each day and reports are shared termly tracking your child’s development and achievements.

My Experience
Little Owls opened its doors in September 2014. Since then we have welcomed over 100 children and their families to the setting.
We are based in the beautiful village of Chiddingfold on the West Sussex/Surrey border. We are situated just 6 miles outside of Godalming.
We are adventurers! We love to learn outside and are members of the forrest learning association. Our setting is warm and inviting and we have a wonderful Little Owls community where you and your child are made to feel welcome.
We understand that finding the right childcare for your child is not only daunting and overwhelming but also one of the biggest decisions you have to make. We are here to not only support your child but you too.

I qualified in a BTEC National Diploma in Early Childhood Education and BSc in Education. I then went on to work in a private nursery in Guildford for a number of years. I was keen to keep my childcare knowledge up to date and enrolled on a Childcare Psychology programme I also completed a degree in Education & Employment.
Myself and my assistants regularly attend training courses in early years education and development as well as stay informed and up to date with all legislation and guidelines.
I have a degree in education and I am continuously ensuring I am up to date by regularly doing relevant courses and ensuring I am fully versed in all safeguarding and child development and learning practices.

Little Owls is a term time setting. We operate Monday - Thursday 9am - 5.30pm Please get in touch to discuss your requirements. We would be more than happy to have a chat about what you are looking for from your childcare provider. We do operate a waiting list when my spaces are full.

My Fees
- Childminding from £9.00 per hour
All fees are payable monthly and in advance of childcare. Fees include meals and snacks. When you take a space at Little Owls a deposit is required to secure your space. Please note Little Owls is a term time only setting.

Ashley is just amazing! She is friendly, professional, caring, hard working, and cooks great meals for the little ones too. Ashley looks after my one year old and everything she does is just outstanding… can’t fault her! She even takes the time to plan little trips for the little ones. I’m giving up my job for a bit of time as I have two young ones and will be extremely sad to leave Ashley! Sonia

Our son Finn started at Little Owls in September 2021. Considering he can be quite wary of new situations we have been delighted with how well he has settled in. Finn is always welcomed with a smile by Ashley and her team. There is always a range of interesting activities and toys at the setting and Finn is always off on adventures to local parks, woods, national trust spaces and even the beach. We always enjoy seeing the photos of him and we can relax and focus on our work, knowing he is in great hands. The app and the blackboard outside the front door are really useful for seeing what he has had to eat and how much he is sleeping and nappy changes etc. We particularly appreciate the additional effort Ashley goes to to provide vegetarian meal options for Finn. Communication is excellent and we are are always told in good time of planned closures which is really helpful for arranging work. Thank you again to Ashley and all of the team.

After having to return to work earlier than I’d hoped, I was so nervous about leaving my daughter while she was still so young, but the moment I met Ashley I instantly felt confident that my daughter would be in the best hands. Since being a Little Owl she has developed so well from being around the other children and she clearly absolutely loves her time with Ashley and Tina. We love receiving the daily photos and updates of what she’s been doing and she clearly feels very at home in Ashley’s home. I never would have expected my 10mth old daughter to be bringing home arts & crafts every few weeks! During such a difficult time throughout the pandemic, I am so pleased that Annabelle has Little Owls to go to. We are so pleased that we found Little Owls, it is the best thing we could have done for our daughter.

Ashley is brilliant! Our son started at Little Owls when he was eight months old and settled in straight away. We love hearing about all the fun and games they get up to and are always impressed by Ashley's ability to coordinate outdoor trips, healthy meals and activities every day. Little Owls is a very nurturing home from home setting and Ashley is one of a kind - we really couldn't ask for more!

Our little owl has been with Ashley since she started and he has loved being with her from day 1. She has such an intuitive way with all of her owls and seems to know exactly how to put them at ease and make them laugh regardless of what mood they arrive in! Rafi always comes home full of delicious home cooked food, fresh from a long run out in the countryside and full of tales about the new activities he has done. He has made some lovely friends and Ashley makes him feel so safe and loved that he is really coming out of his shell with them all. I am constantly amazed at how phenomenally organised and thoughtful she is, never forgetting a birthday, special occasion or detail in Rafi's record book. 100% awesome!

Our 2 children have been with Little Owls since they started, & we have never regretted moving them from nursery. The homely feel that Ashley provides, as well as the abilty to keep all the children under her roof engaged and happy is fantastic. We always know that when we pick up our little owls at the end of the day that they've had the most exhilarating day, with plenty of outdoors time, & delicious meals provided to keep them going & we are always appraised of both our children's journey as they progress-I only wish I was a child again & had the opportunity to attend Little Owls. A perfect place for our children to grow in a loving, hospitable location. Thank you Little Owls.

Since joining 'Little Owls', Owen has thrived. He is happy, confident and developing his language and social skills. Ashley provides home cooked meals of the highest quality and stimulating activities every day (regardless of the weather). She keeps us fully informed as parents and we are blown away by how much she goes above and beyond her role in caring for our son. Without a doubt he regards Little Owls as his second home.

Ashley worked for me in a Nursery school setting for about 5 years. She was an extremely valuable member of staff. Ashley would always look after the children's needs often going over and above the call of duty. I would not hesitate to leave my children in her care. She will make a wonderful child minder.
