My Summary
About Me
Hi there, my name is Lou.
I’m a Mum and Stepmum of 6 beautiful children, who range from 3-19 years old. I have been an Ofsted Registered Childminder for 13 years.
I drop off and collect from Latimer Primary School in Anstey and am based just around the corner from Wolfdale, Woolden Hill Primary and Anstey Martin High School.
I like to give children in my care the opportunity to explore and grow by taking them on outings to places such as the local parks, nature walks, play centres, playgroups, Surestarts, garden centres (Wistows' model railway is always a hit!), museums, Libraries and the city farm.
I keep in touch with other local Childminders and arrange playdates or attend activities with them so that the children in my care have the opportunity to interact with other children their own age, which is proving more vital than ever after the isolation of lockdown.
I provide a New Starter Pack for all of the children who come to me for them to use within the setting and assist in my implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
I have put my sewing skills to good use and created all cotton, printed drawstring rucksacks with a handy reflective strip to keep the wearer safe when wearing them come the darker nights.
Inside the bags, each child shall have a Bookstart pack and library membership form for our local library, a reusable plastic drinks bottle, a bamboo toothbrush, their own little hand towel, some hand sanitiser wipes, a personal hand sanitiser bottle on a handy keyring, their own personalised educational placemat for mealtimes at the table (on which they can practice writing their name with wipeable markers), their own personalised shoe mat for self-registration when attending the setting, a handy laminated 'what to pack' information sheet for parents/carers and for any early years children, a daily diary.
I like to offer a daily diary for the younger children in my care, capturing all those special 'wow' moments and to help establish a good working relationship and flow of communication with parents/carers so that we can all work together as a team for the benefit of the child, though most of my parents are happy with updates via WhatsApp.
As well as this, I create a learning journey for the child that tracks, monitors and enables planning for the child's Early Years progress and development. Some parents also like me to What's App them pictures of the activities and wow moments that their little one gets up to during the day so that they too can witness their childs’ experiences and enjoyments.
The children shall be able to hang their bags on their own named pegs upon arrival and their little hand towels are fitted with a special hanging loop, so they too can be hung on each childs’ individual named pegs in the WC whilst the child is present within the setting to promote good personal hygiene and avoid cross contamination. Toothbrushes are also stored safely in accordance with the government guidance for childcare settings during Covid.
My family and I live in a 5 bed semi-detached house with a good sized enclosed rear garden (with a veggie patch, providing the opportunity for some hands on learning, along with swings, slide, see-saw & various sit & ride toys) with our pet dogs Hendrix (GSD Cross) & Olly (Cockapoo), our pet cats
(The cats live outdoors in my Summer House) Fi Fi and Georgina, and our chicken Honeysuckle who provides us with fresh eggs daily in the warmer weather and provide a wonderful learning opportunity for the children - all of which are well behaved and have grown up with little people around.
I use the ground floor of the property (which comprises of entrance hall, lounge, dining room, kitchen, utility room and downstairs WC) for work.
I’ve got a camera monitor system in the dining room and the lounge so that I can constantly have eyes and ears on the little ones whilst they have the freedom to move their play between the two larger rooms. The dining room has a door straight out onto the garden, so there is a nice flow throughout the setting and a freedom for the children to select their choice of resources and play space.
I live 5 mins from the Glenfield Hospital, 15 mins from the city centre, and less than 10 mins from the M1 (I'm not far from the A46) - so very easy to get to by car and bus (I’m just off of the main Cropston Road in the village, near the Nomads ground).
I have my own car (that is fully insured for business use and up to date with MOT's and services).
I am kind, considerate, trustworthy, firm but fair and most importantly fun! Your child will enjoy themselves, grow develop and have their little imagination stimulated whilst in my care.
I am a strong believer in learning through play. I believe that every child is unique and should be treated as such but at the same time that every child should have equal opportunities. I promise to make your child feel safe and secure in the warm and loving environment that I offer and will do my very best to help your childs’ development flourish!
My Experience
I am an OFSTED registered childminder and am allowed up to 6 children under the age of 8yrs (including my own) in my care and a further 6 over the age of 8 yrs. I scored 'Good' and 'Met' in my OFSTED inspections.
I have been a registered childminder since February 2011, and have also had plenty of hands on experience looking after children of all ages for over 10 years prior to becoming registered.
I have looked after children from birth to 16 years old.
I have experience with premmies and children with special dietary requirements & allergies.
I also have experience in specialist adult care as I worked as a home carer for 18 months.
And last but not least - I have culminated 10 years experience working on the front till in Dominoes toy shop, often going back to work for the Christmas period - so if you ever visited around the festive period and saw a crazy lady dressed up to the nines in fairy wings, antlers, tinsel and anything that flashes - it was probably me!

Wow wow wow!! My daughter spent most of her first year in lockdown and as such was very cautious of other children or anything beyond my front door. However since being with Lou she has excelled and absolutely loves it, lou took time to understand my daughters needs and always keeps me updated with her progress sending lovely pictures. Absolutely amazing!! Highly recommended!!
I had my child prematurely and she was on home oxygen and I was so lucky to have Louby as her childminder as she took the oxygen tank in her stride and made my daughters care about her and took her out and allowed her to have fun and experience so much. She no longer has the oxygen and is in school now but still gets excited about speaking to or seeing her favourite carer. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough she is so good with children and building their confidence in a fun and nurturing way.
I've known Louby for a while as a childminder and all I can say is shes one of the best. She caters to each childs individual needs. Works one to one with them all. I have 3 children 5yo and 18 month Twin boys. All 3 have such a great relationship with her. I would reccommend to anyone.
Just want to say how happy i am with this childminder, she is very easy going, makes you feel welcome and has a very good nature. you can clearly tell she enjoys looking after kids. She lives up to her intro on here. My children adore her and has made them feel at ease since trasfering from previous childminder to her two weeks ago. I just cant believe that ive found the perfect childminder
