About Me

I live near the main town in St Albans and have lived in St Albans all my life. I've been working in childcare since finishing college 9 years ago both working locally and abroad. I have a full driving licence with business insurance on my car.

My Experience

As part of my childcare course I have worked with children ranging from 3 months to 5 years in a variety of settings. I have had placements in nurseries, schools and even with a local childminder.

I have also spent time babysitting for local children ranging from newborn to 12 years.

My nanny career has involved me looking after children from 15 down to just weeks old both around St Albans and abroad. I have had positions which are sole care, shared care and mothers help. I've done proxy parenting and travelled with families.

I’m currently working with a family with two children, 2 and 5 at the time of writing. In this job I have facilitated starting school for the elder child, helping both the parents and child through the process. For the younger child I have planned out a busy week ensuring she is meeting her developmental milestones with appropriate groups while also making sure she has appropriate rest time between. At the beginning of this job I helped guide the parents with implementing a routine to suit all family members and help ensure more sleep for all!

After the pandemic I started with a new family with two girls, 18months and 4. I helped the eldest girl with integrating into a school environment after the pandemic having previously only been to nursery, helping with the reading and school admin as needed. I also gained invaluable experience dealing with allergies and eczema as the youngest child has suffered both at varying degrees over my time with them. This has involved taking her to hospital appointments and helping mum with maintenance at home, including sourcing and testing different skincare solutions and food exclusion to attempt to find a cause as well as a solution. I have also overseen organising classes for both girls, the eldest attends swimming lessons after school and the youngest gymnastics.

Just before the pandemic I was involved in looking after a little boy who was 4 months old at the beginning of the position and just over a year at the end, two days a week. This position was totally sole charge with mum returning to work and i have been helping to implement and update an effective feeding and sleeping routine adding in weaning at the appropriate time and batch cooked all his meals. I've enjoyed taking him to various classes and parks and lots of walks for fresh air. During my time with this family i also went up north for their wedding and looked after the little boy for the weekend, allowing his parents to relax and enjoy their wedding. Unfortunately the family moved back to their home town in July 2019 and my position ended with them.

On another two days a week i looked after two little boys, 3 and 6 at the end of the position. This is a position I have been in since the baby was 10 weeks old and mum was on maternity leave. I have helped implement routines. troubleshooting common baby issues such as sleep. During my time with the family I have helped wean the baby onto solids, batch cooking different foods. In this position I have also worked alongside grandparents when my employers have had to travel for various reasons. Due to changes with Covid and the parents changing childcare over to nursery my position with them ended in May 2020

My longest running position ended in the summer of 2022 and I had been with them from when the little girl was two weeks old and her brothers 2 and 10 right the way through to her being 7 and her bothers 9 and 17 . This position involves me helping prepare for the day, doing the nursery run and then looking after the little girl while mum works from home or attends appointments. This position often involves me working alongside mum with the children. Across the years I've been in this position I have happily been very flexible, helping on days i have free time, doing babysitting, overnights and even flying to Spain to help over a weekend of their summer holiday. This position has also evolved over the years from a morning position where i would go every morning to help till lunchtime, to a three day a week job down to a two day a week job as the needs of the family have evolved over time. During the pandemic I took on home schooling four days a week for both children.

My Qualifications

I am qualified at level 3 in childcare and education from CACHE. I am also first aid certified. As part of my childcare course I have an up-to-date CRB. I am happy and able to become ofsted registered if needed. I have a full driving licence.
