About Me
We are 2 child care practitioners who have set up our own Ofsted registered childminding business in Orpington. We have been graded GOOD in our most recent Ofsted inspection (May 2019). Between us we have many years childcare experience, including working with SEN (special educational needs) children. We provide childcare between the hours of 7.30am and 6pm, Monday to Thursday.
We offer 2 childminders for the price of 1! This allows us to provide a lower ratio than you would find in a nursery and allows more opportunities for one-to-one care.
We follow the EYFS framework together with Development Matters to provide the highest quality childcare, learning and development for your children.
We have a purpose built summer house for our little Penguins to have their very own classroom/playroom to enjoy and we created our setup to encompass all of the areas of the EYFS framework.
The children have full access to all of the resources, providing them with opportunities for freedom of choice for child led activities throughout the day, as well as providing educational adult led activities set up each day. The playhouse also contains a home corner, book corner and space for messy/creative play, as well as stimulating toys for all ages.
We are offering a similar service to which you would find in a nursery, but in the more friendly and welcoming environment of a home. We have a basic structure to our day, as you would find in a nursery, but obviously this is flexible depending on the needs of the children in our care. We will be doing activities daily to aid the development of the children in all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, as well as going on outings to the park, toddler groups, soft play etc.
We are an animal friendly setting, and currently have cats. Pets are wonderful to have as they teach children how to care for and interact with animals, as well as gaining an understanding about respecting others.
My Experience
We both have many years experience in child care, from newborn upwards. We have worked in nurseries covering all rooms (baby room, toddler room & preschool) and ages.
During our time in a nursery setting, we have both worked with children with special educational needs, with one of us being a SIPs (support in preschool) worker, providing one to one support for several children.
We are members of Bromley Mencap Childminding Network and have completed the necessary training.

The qualifications we hold are:
-CYPOP5 (Understand how to set up a home-based childcare service)
-Bromley Mencap Preparation/Disability Awareness training
-Level 2 & 3 NVQ in Childcare
-First aid
-Epipen training
-Safeguarding (as provided by local authority)
-Makaton sign language foundation
-Food hygiene
-Child nutrition
-Training in SEN (special educational needs)
-Music and story telling
-The importance of mark making for children
-Communication is key training
My Availability
We have limited spaces becoming available from October 2024, please do get in touch if you’d like to be added to our waiting list.
We are open 7.30 - 18.00 Monday to Thursday
We are available for all day care as well as flexible hours.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.50 per hour
Our fees are £6.50 per hour. This will include snacks, activities and resources and visits to soft play, toddler groups and so on.
We accept childcare vouchers, 2, 3 & 4 year old funding and we are part of the government tax free childcare scheme.
My Local Schools
This childminder has not yet informed us whether or not they provide any drop off or pick up services at local schools.

I like nursery, husband wanted baby cared for in a home. Found the best of both worlds in Penguin. Lovely, professional carers in a friendly home setting.
