About Me

Hi, my name is Kirsty. I’m a qualified nursery educator and I’ve been working in childcare since I left school at the age of 16! I’m currently the Deputy Manager of a beautiful nursery in Weybridge, but I’m due to go on maternity leave in May.

I have spent a long time working with children and I’m extremely passionate about children’s learning and development. I believe children are able to learn through their play and exploration, allowing them to test their own theories and become creative and free thinkers!

Excitingly I am currently pregnant and expecting my first child (due in the beginning of July) due to this I am currently looking to do some after school nannying from September which I could bring my baby along to. I will happily pick your child up from school and bring them home, preparing them for the evening with whatever you feel necessary! Dinner, homework, bath time, story time! I could also possibly support with school drop offs in the morning depending on location as I don’t drive.

I’m really excited for a slight change in my career, and to put all my gained knowledge, expertise and experience of working in amazing early years settings into new practise.

My Experience

Balham Nursery May- 2009 May 2009
Working in a nursery for work experience in year 10 lasting two weeks helping around the nursery and completing simple instructions given to me and also interacting with children.

Cherry tree montessorri nursery- Jan 2011 Jul 2011
I was a trainee nursery nurse at Cherry tree nursery for 7 months. I worked with the babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers and done various activities and observations, planned activities and other day to day tasks.

Mothergoose nursery- Oct 2011 Apr 2012
I completed work experience here whilst studying at college. I mostly worked with the pre-schoolers but also spent time with other age groups, I carried out observations and activity plans and other tasks.

St Johns and St Clements primary school- May 2012 Jun 2012
I completed work experience here whilst studying at college. I worked with the reception class and done activity plans, observations, reading and writing with the children and various other tasks.

Pitta Patta nursery- Nov 2012 March 2013
I worked here as a nursery nurse in the toddler room carrying out daily routines with my key children such as activity plans and observations along with playing with all the children and making sure they were happy and safe.

Mothergoose nursery- March 2013- September 2021
I got to return to Mothergoose nursery where I had previously worked during my training. I came back as a qualified nursery nurse working with the pre-schoolers and later on with the babies. I had to plan and observe my key children and document their development. I also had to support with their daily care and ensure they were always happy and safe.

Little Jungle school of early childhood- Sep 2016- March 2021
I worked at this lovely Reggio Emilia inspired nursery in East Dulwich for almost 5 years until sadly having to leave due to relocating. At this nursery I got to learn about the Reggio Emilia approach which originated from Italy. I got to spend a study week in Italy during my time at this nursery to learn more and deepen my knowledge on this approach. Whilst I worked here I got to truly focus on the importance of trusting a child’s competency to learn and build their own knowledge, ideas and opinions. I got the experience to become a second in charge of my age group, deepening my leadership skills. I continued to carry out typical daily duties such as planning, observations and daily self care of the children who were in the under 2’s age group ranging from 10 months upwards.

N Family Club Weybridge- March 2021- current
I am currently working as the Deputy Manager of a nursery in Weybridge. I begun working in this nursery as an educator in the baby room and then progressed to being a room leader of a toddler room to now being the deputy manager. My role is still very much based in spending time directly with the children but supporting the team in their roles and training/guiding them when necessary.
I am currently almost 7 months pregnant and will be going on my maternity leave in May. I am planning on doing some after school nannying from September for a year which I could do with my newborn baby.

My Qualifications

Children and young people's workforce- NVQ level 3
Mathematics functional skills- BTEC First Diploma level 2
Workskills- BTEC First Diploma Level 2

I also have lots of other qualifications through my time working in nurseries such as safeguarding, first aid (with Epi pen training), food and hygiene, manual handling, potty training (through ERIC) and lots more! I also have a current DBS

My Availability

I will be available to work weekday evenings. There is also the possibility I could do early mornings too for school drop offs, but this depends on the location.
