About Me
I have been an OFSTED registered childminder since 2003. You will find me, my lovely husband since 2000, our two beautiful daughters & Betty Pet (cat) residing in our spacious home & garden just off the main road running through Longwell Green - just off the ring road!
I am a fun, happy and bubbly person with a natural affinity towards children and childcare ( definitely a plus point in my chosen career!!!)
We fill our days with lots of laughter mixed in with valuable learning - all through play and experiences. We go out and about - soft plays, toddler/childminding groups, parks, woodland and farms, as well as other places of interest.
When home we utilise the fully enclosed garden and outdoor toys, as well as the vast array of resources on offer inside, we cook, sing, create masterpieces, play and busy ourselves with new experiences as well as old favourites!!
I believe in a home from home setting, and create a homely environment for the families I care for - children are loved, cared for and valued, while parents are respected and kept up to date with all our news.
Parents go to work happy in the knowledge that their most precious assets are safe and cared for, and children spend an enjoyable day with friends - "old" & young.
My Experience
Being a full time working mum of two has to be my top qualification in experience!! Juggling demands of family life and work commitments aids my understanding and knowledge for sure!!!
I have been actively ( and successfully ) childminding since 2003! I think that is testament to my ever growing experience and knowledge of childcare and is reflected in the high quality care I offer to all families who use me.
My Qualifications
my qualifications are:
Level 3 NVQ in childcare and learning
Level 3 DHC - Diploma in Home-Based Childcare

Bristol Standards
Child protection
Food Hygiene
Henry Training - Health Exercise and Nutrition for the Really Young
Makaton modules 1,2,3 & 4
Various EYFS linked courses - Early Years Foundation Stage framework
A huge folder of certificates of relevant courses and workshops and conferences I have attended regularly over the course of my childminding career!!!
My husband and I both hold current 12 hr Peadiatric First Aid Certificates & a clean driving license
My Availability
I work Monday - Thursday
Opening times 8 am - 5.00pm (I can be flexible depending on request)
I require a minimum 8 hour session per day.
I am happy to do full time or part time contracts.
At present I offer before/after school care to children attending Longwell Green Primary School
I do not offer Term time only care to 0-5yr olds
I do accept government funded childcare *please note a sustainability fee of £1 per funded hour used will be charged for.
I will have a Wednesday place available from 17th April 2024

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
Babies/toddlers/pre schoolers -
I require a minimum 8 hour, daily session -8am-4pm, 8.25 am -4.25 pm 0r 9am - 5pm @ £6.00 per hour.
School aged children -
£6.00 per hour
Double time is charged for unsociable hours - after 5pm and before 8 am

The childminder my son has been going to for 2 & 1/2 years has recently retired and she recommended Rachel as a possible replacement childminder for our little boy (now 3 years). I trusted our then childminder's judgement and was not disappointed.
We went to Rachel's lovely warm welcoming home to meet her and I cannot really say a bad word about her. She provides a real home from home atmosphere for the children and it was clear to see how the children were made to feel part of the family.
Rachel explained about the wide range of activities and trips out they do whilst in her care and the children we saw during our visit looked very happy there.
Sadly, after much consideration, we felt Rachel was too far away from our home for us to send our child there and fit in getting to work and back, but if it had not been for the distance, I would not have hesitated to ask Rachel to be our son's new childminder, in fact I probably wouldn't have looked around any other childminders. If you are looking for a childminder at present, I would definitely suggest getting in touch with Rachel!
