My Summary
About Me
Hello my name is Nicola I am a fully registered outstanding Ofsted Childminder. I live in Brentwood with my husband Gordon and our 19year old daughter - currently at university. I run a small early years childcare setting.
We live in a lovely house in a very quiet cul-de-sac in the Warley side of Brentwood, a short walk to King George's Playing Fields and Brentwood Train Station. Drop off each day is to my home and pick up is from a local church hall where I work alongside my Childminder friend. The hall is very homely and we are able to offer indoor play, messy/sensory play and healthy snacks.
As a childcare setting we are very active and enjoy the outdoors, so trips to the local play park, country parks, exploring the woods and the mini farm at Hainault & Barleylands Farm are all fond favourites. On rainy days we visit local museums the library and numerous indoor play centres and toddler groups. At the hall we have a large selection of toys for all ages and stages of development including soft toys, toy dolls, dolls house, puzzles, play kitchen, board games, picture cards, art & craft, small world toys, imaginex and a large box of lego. Story time is a favourite - we have a large selection of books to chose from. Sensory and messy play - painting, shells, wooden instruments, water and foam.
My Experience
I worked in the city and locally for over twenty years as an Administrator. Once my daughter was born I returned to work and employed a childminder to care for her. The childcare service that we received was excellent, my daughter became very fond of the childminder and still has a special bond with her. When I was made redundant, I decided to change career and become a childminder, best decision ever! I have been Childminding now for over 11 years. I love spending time with children of all ages whether its getting messy (art & craft/cooking) going out for the day exploring or relaxing reading stories.
I thoroughly enjoy raising my daughter and celebrating each milestone and achievement. I am very family orientated so love spending time with family and friends. I aim to provide a childcare service that is like a 'home from home' experience for all the children.
My Qualifications

Nicola looked after my daughter from 9 months old to almost 3 years old. Being a single parent I was petrified of leaving my daughter to go back to work but Nicola made the transition so easy for the two of us and really set my mind at rest. She sent me regular updates of her progress from activities they were doing down to how she was getting on with eating. My daughter had a dairy allergy which she eventually grew out of but Nicola was so good and careful with preparing her food.
Nicola would do something different with her children everyday with trips to the park, barleylands, gruffalo trails, thames chase, rhyme time at the library etc. Nicola's homesetting is just lovely also with a wonderful range of toys and activities to do in the house and lovely garden. My daughter had such fun with her and the other children and I know she was always completely safe. I have a polite, confident, sociable, outgoing little girl now thanks to Nicola who we ended up seeing as a second mum to my daughter. We have moved quite a way away from Brentwood now and miss her so much!
Cannot recommend Nicola enough!

Nicola started looking after my son when he was 6 months old and I had to return to work. I was keen to find a home from home environment for him which was a bit more personal and one to one than a nursery, especially as he was so young. Nicola was excellent at providing this, she kept up the routine we had going at home, was fantastic at helping us continue with the baby-led weaning we had just started, always sending pictures of his progress and giving us a full report of how he had got on with his food that day.
Nicola also ensured that our son was out of the house as much as possible taking him to interesting places to see and do things. If the weather was good, they were out and our son thoroughly enjoyed this. As he got older Nicola changed the types of activities they would do, always matching days out to his ability which thoroughly helped his development. Days out would include trips to the park, local farm, playgroups to spend time with other children, library, beach etc.
Our son is now nearly 2 and he is a very happy, outgoing and confident little boy. I give Nicola a large part of the credit for this as he was so well looked after by her. Returning to work was difficult but it was made much easier knowing I didn't have to worry about if he was being looked after properly.
Due to us expecting our second child, I am now back at home and no longer require childcare but we will be keeping in touch with Nicola as she has become an important part of our son's life, he is extremely fond of her and she will always be our first port of call should we need childcare again.
I cannot recommend Nicola highly enough. She was a godsend for us and I am very happy we found her and chose her to care for our child.
