About Me
I am a secondary school English teacher. Therefore: I am DBS checked. I am fluent in four languages (Urdu, Hindi, Panjabi and English). This is extremely beneficial for parents who struggle to communicate because of the language barrier. This is also an advantage as I am a qualified TEFL teacher (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). I have taught students and adults who need help with their English, which then enables them to communicate effectively in English. Previously, I have taught students as far as China (in lockdown) to ensure they can access the curriculum, as a consequence this has stopped them from falling behind their peers.
I am very passionate about making a difference to students' lives, which leads me to tutor them in my spare time. Some of the text which I have taught are " Inspector Calls, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Christmas Carol, Journey's End and Mice and Men' (GCSE texts).
I am based locally in Reading town centre. I am very reliable, trustworthy and honest. I am passinate about education and believe we should give all children an opportunity to excel and achieve their goal.
My Experience
I have over fifteen years of experience working and teaching autistic and Special Educational Needs children (SEN). I work daily with a variety of abilities and am compassionate about their educational needs. I differentiate the English syllabus to help my students access the curriculum. I structure the lessons for the individual needs of my students, which leads to them succeeding in class where they can achieve their targets. This gives them the confidence to succeed in their studies.
My Qualifications
English Literature Degree ( BA Honours). TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign language), Qualified City and Guild Interpreter. NVQ level 3.
My Availability
Weekday evenings and Saturday/ Sunday daytime or evenings and school holidays.

Mrs. Shi is an excellent tutor with great patience and rich experience in English teachingļ¼ my son is a English beginner comes from different country, but he made a big progress in spelling and reading with Shi's help. at the beginning, I he know little English, right now he can complete the basic communication with other children by three months learning, I am very happy for it, and really appreciate Mrs. Shi.
