My Summary
About Me
I live with my husband and and have 3 grown up children.
While my own 3 were growing up I helped a lot in their school. I decided to do my NNEB but after training in a private nursery I decided it wasn't for me so decided to become a childminder and have been registered since 2001. I have worked with many different types of families and children with varying abilities including autism (which one of my Grandchildren has been diagnosed with) and medical conditions.
I have a large back garden with a double story playhouse which also includes a pond (high fence surrounded as required and approved by Ofsted) and lots of outdoor resources. Every year we get some frog spawn from the pond and watch them grow into frogs - we also buy some caterpillars and watch them turn into butterflies before letting them go. In the garden we grow some fruit and veg and discuss what they are and how they grow. There is also a designated fairy garden and dinosaur world area. The whole of the ground floor is used for childminding. The living room is used for playing in, watching TV occasionally and sleeping in (each child has a bag with their own blanket/sheet/soother and sleep on/in whatever is their preference e.g. buggy, travel cot or mat) The kitchen includes a younger child size table and chairs which is used for eating (with age appropriate cutlery etc) and sometimes crafts (with a cover). As soon as is possible children are encouraged to help with preparing meals and to set the table. The conservatory is purpose built as a playroom full of resources for different age groups. Between the kitchen and playroom there is a downstairs toilet which makes toilet training easier and each child is provided with their own hand towel for drying hands.
Childrens learning is tracked and evaluated every 4/5 mths depending on whether or not there are any concerns regarding development and activities are planned or free play - and dependent on age and ability. A daily diary is provided for under 3's to inform you of what your child has eaten etc and what they have been doing during the day - we have a parent WhatsApp group for photos too so you can see what we have been up to. We make regular trips out to places like Sale Water Park (den building + stories/rhymes with dinos and safari animals, feeding the ducks/geese, tree climbing, hammock and picnics), local parks, museums, art gallery, legoland, sealife, play centres and any trails that become available such as the bees, bugs, snowmen, corgies and frogs. We enjoy lots of crafts activities and include crafts/learning about other countries/religions/celebrations. Baking is enjoyed by all especially eating the goodies at the end and we celebrate everyones birthday regardless of when it is with cake and a present.
I am registered with Ofsted and am CRB checked - unfortunately because I was registered in 2001 I do not have a copy of this as it was certified through OFSTED in the early days - wouldn’t be registered without it. I offer high quality care in a safe and secure home setting. Up to date certification in First Aid, Health and Safety and Food Hygiene. Smoke free home with a no-smoking policy within my home.
I feel pride and privileged in the fact that I help little people to achieve their development journey to become independent and school ready by the time they are ready for Nursery a
I greatly value parents input, contributions and suggestions to help improve my setting and their child’s care.
My Experience
I have 3 grown up children and 6 Grandchildren - so lots of experience.I helped in school a lot as my children grew up, I ran a school holiday club for 2 years and have been childminding for since 2001. I have attended lots of courses in the past but most are on line now. I have worked closely with the Childrens Centre in the past and looked after a few children with them until they were closed a few years ago. While completing my NNEB nursery course I attended both Lime Tree Nursery and a Private Nursery in Sale as part of the learning experience.
