About Me

I am a married mum in Stoke Newington where I live with my husband, who works abroad a lot. My daughter is in year 8 at secondary school. She’s 12 - nearly 13.

My Requirements

Babysitter
Housekeeper
Mothers Help
Household Help

Happy professional Stoke Newington family seek baby-sitting type role for a 12 year old girl (year 8) - but she’s too old and sensible for a baby-sitter!

Most of the time it is mum and one daughter here as dad is working abroad for a few years (why mum needs help!).

The job involves helping mum around the house with hanging out with a Y8 girl; keeping her company, making dinner, supervising homework/music practice if necessary (she’s very good and gets on with it!), helping with the household, leaving mum out some dinner when I have to work late, tidying, etc. My daughter is a clever, happy tween/teen - favourite subjects at school are biology, history, geography and maths, and she’s an avid reader.

We aren’t looking for a cleaner- we have a cleaner and we like her very much. It’s about company for my daughter, listening to her, and making sure dinner is ready etc.

We welcome students looking for some babysitting/childcare alongside studies or applicants combining babysitting with other careers - we hope the right person might stay with us for many years helping out when it suits both of us and especially whilst dad is working abroad. Our first much loved nanny stayed with us for five years before moving to Brighton when my daughter was at pre-school/reception. It might well also suit someone currently working as a TA who is very local, for example. Open to suggestions.

Exact hours negotiable to fit the right person but this is a part-time flexi role, probably in the region of 4-8 hours a week, but ideally someone who can be around on at least one of Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday, and other evenings if necc m from at least c.6.30/7 till c9/9.30pm (occasionally later by arrangement) is ideal. Some flexibility is useful - these things are things we can discuss.

We’re in stoke newington, hackney, near the morissons supermarket, just off Stamford Hill/A10. Nearest train station is stoke newington but the route is fast from seven sisters too (victoria line) or across from Walthamstow if cycling. We think its likely to best suit someone who lives locally. Place to lock a bike in our garden.

Bus routes nearby include: 76 149 243 67 476 73 106 253 254 276 393 276.

Essentials:
•. reliability and tidiness;
• ability to cook;
• DBS check;
• right to work in UK (evidence will be required);
• ability to accommodate extra hours on request is an advantage as is flexibility but genuinely not essential - I am lucky to have good family support nearby.

Also, she is learning French and German at school (& likes both of them - she has a trip to both coning up and is excited for this!) so if you happen to be fluent, encouraging her to speak to you is a bonus. But not an essential obviously.

Thanks for reading!
